About Our Cosmetic Fillers

In a simple 10-minute office visit,BOTOX® Cosmetic smooths moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, and on your forehead, for up to 4 months. You can expect a more youthful and rested appearance, which can be quite dramatic in some patients, BOTOX® Cosmetic is so safe and effective that it is today's most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Before you schedule your first BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment, you probably have some questions, such as: How long will it take? How long will the results last? Will it hurt? Will I still be able to make facial expressions?

Here's what you can expect from your treatment at the LUMEN Laser Center.

The day of your first appointment.  Allow time before your appointment for filling out forms and for meeting with Dr. Andrew Kwak personally. You will be asked about your expectations for treatment, and if you have any allergies or any condition that wouldn't make you a good candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Before the procedure. You'll be seated in a comfortable exam chair. No anesthesia is required, although Dr. Kwak's staff may numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream.

The procedure. Dr. Kwak will determine where to administer the injections by examining your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area. The entire injection procedure takes approximately 10 minutes..

After the procedure. There's no recovery time needed, and you can get on with your day.

Seeing results. Within days, you may notice an improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows that can last up to 4 months. In some cases a touch-up may be administered two or more weeks after the initial injections for optimal results.

Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

Juvéderm™ Ultra is used for wrinkle correction and lip enhancements.

Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus is used for shaping facial contours, correcting deep folds and for volume  

augmentation of the lips.

When injected into the superficial dermis, JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel helps to fill fine wrinkles such as crow's feet, or peri-oral wrinkles.

When injected into the middle dermis,JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel fills forehead wrinkles, glabellar lines, mild naso-genian folds and cheek wrinkles.

When injected into the middle/deep dermis, the densest version, JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel fills deep naso-genian folds, returns volume to your lips, sculpts your cheeks and restores an oval shape to your face.

During your treatment: To make lip treatments more comfortable, we may inject some anesthetic into your lips immediately before your treatment. These injections are nearly painless and will make your JUVÉDERM™ treatment almost painless also. The product is then injected with a very fine needle into the desired areas.

What to expect after your treatment: After injection, some common, temporary, injection-related reactions might occur: tenderness, redness, itching, bruising, bumps, pain or swelling. If any of these occur, they typically resolve within a few days. Occasionally they can last up to 7-10 days after lip injections. We recommend planning your treatments at least one week before any special events.

Preparation for your treatment:

• To reduce discomfort with this treatment, we will apply Betacaine ointment 15 minutes before      

               your treatment.

•   To reduce the risk of bruising, you recommend that you avoid Vitamin e, aspirin-based products, 
    St. John's Wort, Plavix for two days before your treatment. Also, avoid consuming alcohol for 24
    hours afterward.

Aftercare:  No special care is needed after treatment, however we advise you not to massage the area for several hours after treatment, as this may displace the gel. If swelling occurs after lip treatment, sleeping on two pillows for the first two nights may help. Ice may also help.

Cost:  Please contact us for pricing. There is a one syringe minimum per client, per visit. Depending on the areas treated, more than one syringe may be needed to create the best look possible. We offer discounts if more than one syringe is used during the same visit.
